Custom Homes
A tradition of excellence
Building North of Ordinary
Building a custom home is a meaningful commitment of time, resources, and trust. At SMITHWRIGHT, we believe the best homes begin with a clear vision, thoughtful preparation, and respect for the place they belong. This is what it means to build North of Ordinary.
Based in Sandpoint, Idaho, SMITHWRIGHT. builds high-end custom homes throughout North Idaho, including Schweitzer Mountain, Lake Pend Oreille, and The Idaho Club. Building in these rural and resort settings requires careful consideration of terrain, climate, site access, and long-term performance.
We collaborate closely with homeowners, architects, design teams, and owners’ representatives to carry design intent into construction. Jason Collins’ background in high-end residential structural engineering & construction administration informs our approach to complex homes, helping us evaluate constructability and anticipate coordination challenges early. Clear communication keeps clients informed as scope, budget, schedule, and selections come together.
Our responsibility is to honor each homeowner’s vision through careful coordination, precise sequencing, and lasting craftsmanship. Every material transition, structural connection, and finished detail contributes to a home that belongs to its setting and supports the way its owners live.
Thoughtful planning brings clarity to the process. Disciplined construction carries that clarity into the finished home. Together, they give substance to our promise: Your Dream Built True
Our first experience designing a home and from the beginning we knew we had the right team working with SMITHWRIGHT! The process was carefully explained and each virtual meeting gave us updates and next steps. SMITHWRIGHT has an experienced team and they took the time to show us their work in multiple stages of completion which we appreciated being new to this process. Highly recommend the SMITHWRIGHT team!
Building well starts with a clear understanding of place, priorities, and process.
We work closely with you and your design team from the beginning, carrying that clarity through construction to deliver a home that feels grounded, considered, and built to last.
